The Beginning of Beth stories with her friends...
Well, what a year so far. We are off to Paris with some wonderful vacationing companions. Bambi, Nickie and I all met up at the private airport. When we were escorted onto the plane, Nickie stopped abruptly and I almost knocked her over. She had just seen her escort. Vincent D.
Vincent turned around and came towards her with his hand out stretched to help her in the seating area. He said in French. Bambi and I both looked at our escorts. John and Seth both looked at each other like we are screwed. Bambi and I looked at each other and gave each other a nod suggesting they had a lot to live up to even if we didn’t know what Vincent said we knew it was beautiful. I turned around and saw something that I had never seen before, Nickie so happy and blushing.
We all settled in our seats and John said that we were starting our trip by flying to New York first. That we were going to have dinner there at Rao’s an Italian restaurant that he likes while the plane was readied for the trip. Then he went to his office. Watching Bambi, Seth, Vincent and Nickie all busy with getting comfortable and settling in I felt a little uncomfortable. So off I went to find John. I had forgotten that John never had travelled with us on the planes so didn’t know that I would want to be with him. So we cuddled on the couch and settled for our flight. The steward stopped in to get our food orders and I checked on the other couples and they were deep in conversations. The food at the restaurant Rao’s was delicious. We did a little shopping while we were there and back to the airport for our trip. What I love about a private jet was that John thinks of everything and everyone had a comfortable place to sleep on this night flight to Paris.
First order of business was getting settled in the hotel in the Champs Elysees district of Paris called Hotel Beau Manoir. ( did I say sound proof rooms). Then off to site see. Vincent had studied the attractions and was the best tour guide we could have had. We first went the the Palais Royal which is a palace in Paris that was built in the 1600’s. It was next to the Louvre Museum. We had a picnic lunch at the Jardin des Tuileries west of the Louvre Museum which is a gorgeous garden with many statues and a pond. I almost felt I was in the house of Mr. Darcy while looking at the beautiful sculptures in the Scully wing. This is the wing that has the Greek sculpture “Venus de Milo”. We had separated and met up with the others in the Denon Wing of the Louvre Museum. We met up in front of Mona Lisa. According to Vincent the portrait was created by Leonardo da Vinci between 1503 and 1507. We enjoyed the museum and then headed to Eiffel Tower for dinner at the Altitude 95 and then an hour cruise along the Seine. Bambi told us it would be a wonderful evening seeing Paris at night. It was. Then we went to the Moulin Rouge show “Feerie”. What a wonderful day.
The next morning the buffet here is in the cellar. It was wonderful. The food was wonderful.
Today we are going on a yellow double-decker bus to tour the city. We saw Bastille Square, Sorbonne, Notre-Dame Cathedral, Eiffel Tower (in the daylight), Concorde Square, and many more places. It was a two hour tour that lasted all day. We didn’t need the earphones we had Vincent to tell us about each place. I know I was glad that he decided to come with us. The look on Nickie’s face says she was also happy about it. Tonight we are going to Maxim’s for dinner.
Tomorrow Nickie and Vincent are touring Paris by themselves. Seth and John are working out in the weight room. Bambi and I are going to walk the neighborhood and “look” around. We really went shopping at the wonderful boutiques close by, Christian Dior, Hermes, and Gucci. The boys met us at the Espace Pierre Cardin a nice park area. Tonight we are going to the Opera Garnier to see Caligula. What a wonderful night and an opportunity to dress up. The boys look really nice in their tuxes and from their responses Bambi and I dazzled them with our dresses. (I still am amazed that strapless gowns stay up but they did) The dresses we picked up while looking at the boutiques. We do not see Nickie and Vincent until the next day. Boy, was Nickie still smiling?
On the second to last day we had a private tour of the Cathedrals in Paris. We had a wonderful time, loads of pictures, and tasting of the food along the local streets.
The next day we all went off to explore Paris ourselves. John and I went off to take care of some personal business. There was a special Cathedral that was beckoning to us. Then afterwards we ran into the others at the Obelisque which is a 3,300 year old monument that was given to France by the Viceroy of Egypt in 1829. We then went to eat at Spicy’s . It was wonderful food and atmosphere, It was a good thing that Nickie quit smoking since it was a no smoking restaurant. The menu was fabulous, swordfish, red tuna, sea bass, duck, beef tartar. New and wonderful tastes. The next day we were supposed to leave but we slept in. One thing led to another and we just relaxed at the hotel and left a day later.
It was a fun and relaxing time in Paris. This was John’s first time officially with us and he learned a lot about relaxing on a vacation. The plane flight was nice and relaxing. I overheard Vincent tell Nickie they should spend some more time together. Bambi and Seth looked relaxed and happy. Until the July 4th trip! (unless we sneak away somewhere before then!)
(“Nicolette, you are more beautiful than a sunset on the ocean. This trip is for us to learn about each other and Paris. Hopefully falling in love with the country as well as with each other, the time together I am looking forward to.)
Well, Fourth of July was wonderful. Bambi went off with Seth and Nickie to the Alps with Chris. Mr. Darcy and I went off to Pemberly, at least the one he had built in Oregon. It was lovely and so nice to relax. I love it when he reenacts the last scene of the movie, Mrs. Darcy, Mrs. Darcy….
Mr. Darcy had to get back to filming Little Dorrit a television series besides I needed to get back home to pack. I had a trip to Ireland to plan. John hadn’t even noticed I had been gone for the fourth so I knew August in Ireland would be great for me. Bambi and Nickie would fly out the third week to join me. Plans changed and I went to England with Mr. Darcy for the weekend and met up with Prince William. Where a big misunderstanding began the night I had an innocent dinner with Prince William which ended up in the tabloids. They said I was having a torrid affair with the Prince and me being put in the Brig. So my plans of having sometime to pack was not working out. I ended up in beautiful Scotland where Nickie visited before heading off to Ireland. Nickie headed back to the Alps with Sean Connery. William and I traveled to Ireland together. The first two weeks were wonderful in Ireland. I stayed in a house in the country. Jeffrey would stay sometimes. I had a lot of time to think while walking the countryside. I loved the little pubs and the night life. I felt free. It was fun and the time passed quickly. Then Bambi flew in from Spain (where she had been touring Spain with her own personal guide, Antonio, and Nickie from the Alps.) They unpacked and then we rested before dinner by chatting and having a drink on the porch. Bambi had the time of her life in Spain. Antonio seemed to have been a very thought and thorough guide. Nickie seemed to enjoy time with her Sean and Chris.
Then I told them the treat for tonight was going to the local Pub, Whelan’s where Gerry was singing. Bambi melted at the sight of Gerry, Jeffrey M was on stage singing also which flipped my heart, and Stuart Townsend smiled from a table at Nickie. I don’t know about Bambi but that feeling when the singer comes off the stage for you …. It feels so good…… We had a great time and after that Bambi and I went off with the boys and Stuart was showing Nickie the sights. He is the son of Peter Townsend. We actually didn’t see them for a couple of days. I don’t think Nickie can tease me now about Prince W. Why do I think she will now have a cottage in Ireland to come to? (Cabin in Tahoe, home in the Alps…) We spent the week walking the countryside, hitting the pubs at night and just enjoying the peacefulness of the country. We even went out on a boat. I almost wanted to knock Jeffrey over but I held my urge to push him. We had fun. I hope to go back real soon. I walked by Bambi’s room and the door was ajar. I saw a flash of red so I stepped back only to see Gerry with his hands by his head like horns and he was running towards the red cape Bambi was holding yelling something in Spanish. Bambi looked good in her all black outfit though.
Bambi, Nickie and I were laughing and talking as we headed towards the yacht. John surprised us by meeting us at the dock. He helped us get our stuff on the yacht and we all got ourselves settled in our rooms. Chris and George were going to meet us later. It was a nice peaceful afternoon when we saw another yacht not too far off. Then we saw a boat approaching us. John came out to see who was boarding. It was Chris, George, Sean and Sam. The girls and I were a little shocked to see Sam. It seemed like ages since I had seen Sam.
Sam approached John to shake hands. John look stunned. I tried to hide behind Nickie. Then Sam spoke up like he always does and said to John, “I really don’t think you know what happened that weekend. She had been drinking most of the day. Not enough for people to notice but she had been. When I came along she was very free in her emotions. So we ended up on the bike, so what? You hadn’t been with her since Paris! Nickie and Bambi gasped. I looked embarrassed. When she started sobering up and realized what she had done she grabbed a bottle of whiskey and downed it. That was how she got through the weekend. The last night she sobered up and vomited all night while crying to me what she was going through. Tell me what possessed you to have a ceremony in Paris, talk about having a family and your wedding, then move out of your room and ignore her for a few months. What did you think she would do? There she was in that big house basically all alone. She spent half her time at her old place and your place. You had no clue she was even around. You wouldn’t answer her when she asked about the phone calls; someone started hanging up when she answered the phone. I know you told Nickie and Bambi you were with your sister in Vegas, but it wasn’t your sister that was calling your house. Beth loves you. (And Chris looks at Nickie and Bambi. Nickie whispers, “Later.”) So she messed up one weekend. I quickly look at Bambi and Nickie to be quiet about my recent trip to Ireland. Was she supposed to sit downstairs quietly until you decided to come back? She needed you; she needed your love and attention. Since you didn’t give it she found it elsewhere. You already knew that she was a wild filly. You can’t keep them tied up and not pay attention to a woman that has been free and wild. You have to love them; they will always come back to you.” Sean and Chris nodded. Nickie looked at Chris then at Beth. Beth also looked puzzled which made Nickie a little at ease. (Later Beth asked Chris why he had nodded, seems those hickey marks on her neck were from Sean not Sam and Sean had told him about what had happened after the Harley incident. Beth decided she didn’t want any more details. )
John began to talk. Not to anyone in particular. Just talking. We came back from Paris all excited about our life, about starting a family. So I went for a physical to make sure everything was okay. It wasn’t. There was silence all around. They found a mass and told me I may have cancer. We started treatment right away after the biopsy. I couldn’t go home and tell Beth. John continues. She had been raped, a widow, two miscarriages, her life yanked from her, I couldn’t do it again. I wasn’t thinking right. Sam agreed. Beth had slipped in a chair. She looked at him….two miscarriages? You mean I was pregnant when they attacked me that night? John looked shocked he never meant to tell her. Beth had tears running down her face.
“You thought since I had lost my parents, husband and two babies I wouldn’t be tough enough to go through this with you? My goodness, you really don’t have much respect for me.” Beth said quietly.
The group shifted not wanting to be intruding but yet interested in the outcome. Nickie only hoped Sean was being good then she noticed he was hitting on one of the crew members and drinking a beer.
John said, “I was stupid, that is all it was. I thought I could protect you from all of this only to shove you right into someone else arms. That day I went to Nickie’s to find you I had been cleared of all disease. It turned out not to be as bad as they thought. I was shocked and hurt by your note.”
Sam spoke up… “Since she had been crying and vomiting all night she didn’t want the girls to see her. She hadn’t told them anything about what had been happening. She definitely didn’t want to bring it up then. So we decided to bike it back to clear her head. She totally loves you and I think she deserves a second chance, if she wants it.”
“Who was the person calling the house?” asks Beth. And who was the woman in Vegas. Your sister was in town that weekend because I was having lunch with her. “
Nickie looked shocked. So did Bambi.
That was the new receptionist dialing the wrong number. The doctor’s office was under strict instructions not to call the house and talk to you or the staff. I am sorry about that. The woman in Vegas was an Oncologist that my doctor told me look up when I was there. Bambi saw me having dinner with her and we were discussing my case. Believe me I didn’t and couldn’t and wouldn’t have slept with her. (Beth feels a tad guilty, only a tad though that she couldn’t say the same thing) I moved out of the bedroom because it was too hard to be near you and not be able to love you. Here I am this big shot in the witness protection system and I didn’t even know how to open up to you. I make people change their lives on short notice and deal with it. But now I understand when you get hit hard from out of the blue it isn’t easy to make the right decisions. I am sorry. He looked at Nickie and said, “I am sorry I scared you that day, I was livid with myself for letting her get away. It wasn’t until I received her telegram from Ireland that I thought she might let me back in her life. When it said, “Meet us at the yacht for a wonderful weekend.” I had hope. Beth looked puzzled then smiled. John looked at her…. She whispered Gerry sent it….but I am glad he did and reached for his hand.
She looked around and said, “Anyone want a drink? I think we have a lot to celebrate this weekend. Let’s not stand around and waste a minute. We can water ski, jet ski, swim, Chris chimed in and para sail I have the stuff at the other yacht. It is Sean’s he added before Nickie got too excited. Everyone began talking at once making plans for the rest of the day. No one saw John and me sneak off to our cabin. This time I made sure all the curtains were drawn. We had a lot of talking and time to make up. As he rolled over to kiss her he smiled.” I don’t think it was one weekend I have to forgive.” Beth smiled, “just the past three months and maybe any future trips I take with the girls when you aren’t around.” He sighed, “I knew I wouldn’t be able to tame you especially after I met Nickie. But you know what I don’t think I want to. I fell in love with your innocence and I continue to love you free spirit. Do you think I should buy a Harley now? “
Beth smiled, “the jury is out on that one. Maybe we should rent one for a weekend.”
Beth and John emerge from their room and found Nickie resting on the deck and everyone else gone. Nickie looked at them and smiled. Beth asked if she wanted to go to Sean’s yacht and look around. Nickie decided to go with them. When they arrived she was surprised to see Vincent there. He came up smiling. Nickie hugged him then Beth heard her say, “Vincent, I am sorry but I have been seeing Chris…”
Beth turned to John and smiled. “Want to swim back to the yacht?” So they told Nickie to be back for dinner and bring their shoes and stuff back in the boat. John asked, “What was that about?”
“Oh, she has been seeing two men and they knew about each other waiting for her to tell them. Everything will be alright now as long as she tells Chris about Vincent.”
It was a nice swim and when they arrived at the yacht the others were playing on the water trampoline. Chris swam up and asked about Nickie and I just smiled and said she was on Sean’s yacht. He smiled and went off to dunk Bambi for splashing him. We had a lot of fun and the crew let us know dinner would be ready in 45 min. We got out and dressed for dinner. Nickie arrived back and took Chris aside for a moment. She was smiling when they returned back with the group. The dinner was great as was the company. John liked Chris and George. We talked about future trips and Chris invited us to Switzerland for Halloween or Thanksgiving. Whichever we could work out.
What a summer. Bambi is flying high since she spent time with some gorgeous company. Nickie whispered to me at the bar that she met Matthew M on Sean’s yacht. I told her he was heading towards the bar. She had me stay and meet him. I wasn’t really paying attention I was watching John. But they were planning something. Who knows with Nickie?!! She is another little filly that can’t be tamed.
Until next time…. A masquerade dance in Salem. Massachusetts on Halloween!
Hill House Weekend
Wow! Another fun filled weekend. We’re off to the Hill House on the outskirts of London, England. We had fun riding the train to the countryside. The chauffeur picked us up in a Bentley. Everything was top of the line—my friend John III knows how to take care of people. When we arrived at the estate, we were amazed how massive the gate was. It was wrought iron and very old. The caretaker had to come out and open the gates to let us through. When we got out of the car, the smell of autumn surrounded us. The leaves were just beginning to change colors on the surrounding trees. The front of the mansion was adorned with huge intricately carve wooden doors. As we entered, you could smell the scent of pumpkin and cinnamon, wafting from somewhere down a long hallway. We marveled at the woodcarvings throughout the rooms as Neville, the butler, showed us to our rooms. They were on the second floor but mind you, the ceilings on the first floor were 24ft high. Each of our rooms had a fireplace, already going and our own bathroom equipped with a Jacuzzi. The four-poster king size bed looked inviting but I flopped down in the chair next to my fire and collapsed. We had enough time to unpack our things and be freshened up before putting on the gowns that were lying on our beds. There was jewelry on our make up tables, nothing was forgotten.
Bambie, Nicole and I met at the stairs and went down for dinner. The dining room was already prepared and we could see it set for 24 guests. After a luscious dinner:
Menu
Appetizers
Sir Winston Salad –slice scallions, red and yellow peppers, goat cheese, topped with croutons. Tossed with a light and creamy basil dressing) Lobster Bisque with caviar lemon whipping cream
Main Course
Pheasant Roast
Vegetables
Potatoes-Baked or mashed with/without garlic Asparagus Spears Peas with pearl onions
Bread
Cheese/wine
Desserts Baked Alaska Creme Brule Petite Fours
After a luscious dinner, we sat in the parlor listening to a pianist playing soft classical music. Then we moved to the study for dessert and sat by the fire. We enjoyed meeting the other guests. There was a mystery/horror writer named Steven and a poet Nicole was talking to by the name of Edgar and Bambie was talking to a fiction writer by the name of Charles.
Next Morning:
Well, the bed was nice and cozy. It was hard to get out of bed. However, I could smell the ham/eggs/French toast and more smells coming through the floor registers. I was sudden hungry. I dashed in the shower and was dressed in a flash. I ran into Bambie and Nicole going down the stairs.
In the dining room, a buffet was set up with loads of freshly made food. We loaded up on the food. When we put our plates down on the table, Bambie nudged me. I looked up and John had walked in with Matthew, our Mr. Darcy. I thought Bambie was going to knock me down to be introduced to him. On the other hand, I may have started that when I pushed her back to the wall to get by her. (LOL) Then Shawn walked in and not only was the food good but the scenery.
After breakfast we went back to our rooms. Our riding clothes were on the beds. We changed quickly for the Fox Hunt. We all had a partner to help us know what we were doing, Bambie was with Mr. Darcy, Nicole with Shawn and I was with Charles. Hmmm and I even wrote this. Well, the others disappeared when the horn blew. I never had so much fun. Nevertheless, boy I was sore, riding a horse through the woods, over the rocks and into a stream. I don’t know where the fox went. However, we all had a great time. Not sure, what the joke was between Nicole and Shawn. However, it must have been good. Bambie just kept saying quietly, Mr. Darcy over and over with a smile on her face. Well, I know more about the book A Christmas Carol that is my favorite. In addition, I’m the only one of us three girls that can say, “I saw the fox!”
Lunch was light because we have another dinner and some dancing.
Menu
Shrimp Cocktail Tomato Bisque Cold cucumber Soup Prime Rib Leg of Lamb
Vegetables:
Candied Yams, Carrot medallions, Broccoli with hollandaise sauce
Salad Cheese/Wine Dessert: Yorkshire pudding, Old Fashioned Cream Pie, Bread pudding, Chocolate mousse
I so have to tour this mansion and find a gym!
We sat for a few minutes after dinner and just talked. Everyone was quite full, Coffee, Tea, Brandy and water was being served in the study with a cellist playing oh so beautifully. It was just enough time for the food to settle and the ballroom to be prepared. Our dresses for the evening were elegant and flowing. My dance card was full. I loved dancing with Mr. Darcy. It was everything I could imagine it to be… just like a scene from Pride and Prejudice. The others seemed to be enjoying themselves. I could hear laughter from the other room. It was a night to remember.
Another night with good sleep, the smell of the breakfast food once again woke me up. Today we’re doing whatever we want. Tonight is our last night here. I took a walk in the woods after breakfast; Bambie said she and Nicole were going to work out. Those two always seem to love “working out” because they went off laughing.
Well, a few hours later I had a handful of beautiful changing leaves. The smoky cedar smell drew me to a barbecue pit. It was wonderful, the cold weather, the wonderful sweaters, the smell of wood burning. We had a wonderful cook out including marshmallows, popcorn, and hot apple cider. After lunch since we had a few hours to kill before the gala. I asked Nicole and Bambie to show me the gym they found. Bambie looked at Nicole with a quizzical look on her face the back to me and said, “OK.”
I’m not sure they ever had been there because on the way we found the carousel, sauna, and the swimming pool. We had so much fun though and I think the sauna actually helped me get into my gown that night. We all met at the top of the stairs to walk down together. We figured it would be a good “grand entrance” to this evening dance partners. Well, Bambie and Nicole about fell down the stairs when they saw the gentleman waiting for us. Me, well, my dress was caught in my shoe so I was stumbling down the stairs. George was waiting for Bambie, Dense for Nicole and Gerry for me. There isn’t much I can write about this night without the threat of blackmail from the others. Let me just say that the men were great dancers, though Nicole and Dense were found in the game room shooting pool. They had become tired of dancing. Mr. Darcy came back for the evening and it was so much fun. Bambie is still smiling and she still does a little dance down the hallway at work. They all decided to go to London the next day. We decided to stop wearing the wonderful, fabulous gowns and get into casual clothes and tour London by day and pubs by night. I think the extra day in London turned out to be three days. It did not help that Nicole found her favorite beer, Quilmes. Well, another fun-filled weekend. Next week is the séance at Rose Red.
Rose Red the Séance
What a wonderful night for a seance. The sky is clear, the stars are shining bright and the moon is full.
Tonight the chauffeur picked us up from the Turret House B&B. Wow, what service. As we approach the dead end street, I noticed there was a gate in front of the limo. The dried thorny leaves of a climbing Bambie bush covered the gate. I noticed out of the corner of my eye something gleaming only to find out it was a silver white Bambie reflecting the moon rays. Nicole, Bambie and I looked at each other and gulped. No one came out to open the gate and there wasn’t an intercom that we could see. However, the gate slowly opened with only the squeaking sounds of the wheels moving. An eerie sound in the still quiet driveway was scary.
The driver opened our doors then quickly jumped back in the limo and we heard the doors lock. Nicole, Bambie and I arm in arm proceeded to the door. A chilling breeze went by us or should I say through us. We finally climbed the never-ending steps. The door was a jar. Nicole looked at me and with a small smile of fear pushed on the door. It slowly opened.
From a side door down the long atrium a light was shining under the door. The door slowly opened and there stood the medium. Who just nodded at us to follow and we followed her to the table where the candles were lit. We sat down.
Bambie was the first to ask for who she wanted. The room became quiet and brightened. There in front of us was an angel in long flowing white clothing. H e spoke softly and said that Jesus wanted to come but is busy working towards the second coming. He sends His love and for all of us to study the scriptures, to be prepared for His coming back, to stay in touch through prayers and listen to the still small voice that guides us. Then he left. Gabriel was his name.
Nicole then asked for who she wanted. Then he evaporated in front of us and a beautiful Indian maiden materialized. She spoke softly and told us how she loved nature. How hard life was making their own clothes from animal skins, clearing lands to grow what they could, taking care of the small children. However, she loved being with her friends like any young girl. Where they could climb the hills, find new caves, the clear beautiful water, and air. The freedom found in nature. She had a wonderful peaceful life while she lived with her family. She loved John Rolfe and her time in London. Then Pocahontas left.
Finally yet importantly, I made my request and John Jacob Astor appeared. He was as handsome as the old pictures have shown. I asked how he felt that some men were able to get in a lifeboat and he was not. He said, “That he was sad that he didn’t see his son be born or grow up but that he was happy with the decision he made. It was the right thing to do.” He said,” it was a funnel that fell on him he thinks.” He had a great trip up until that night and the Titanic was beautiful. I told him we were going to the Titanic on Halloween. He winked and said to save him a dance. Then he was gone.
All of a sudden, you could hear all of the windows and doors fly open with a loud crash. Swoosh and the candles went out. Luckily, the moon was shining bright. Nicole yelled, “Get your stuff, and let’s go!” We ran out the door, down the hall, and we heard the windows and doors behind us shutting. We barely made it through the double doors when they slammed shut with a loud bang. We ran down the stairs and almost knocked down a woman. I asked who she was. She said, “I’m Madam Burushka, the medium. Which one of you is Beth?” Nicole, Bambie and I looked at each other then back at the house. We ran to the car I gave her the envelope with her money. The chauffeur raced out of the gate with her car right in front of us. The gate slammed shut and locked behind us. I could see a shadow pass by one of the third floor windows.
Now off to the Queen Mary. I could hardly believe it was only nine o’clock. We went to the meeting place and the attendant named Dan said we get to tour the Queen Mary by candlelight. We should stay close and not get lost. Well, then Dan who was great showed us where the sailor was killed during a drill and the swimming pool that always seems to have ghost diving in it, In addition, where people can hear a little girl’s small voice. We were not that sad that we did not see any ghosts. Then Dan said they had a surprise for us. He showed us to an old ballroom filled with people. It was a masquerade party. We had so much fun. Nicole and Bambie had some drinks…. Called Flying Scotsman and I had a Georgia Peach Cooler. We were able to calm our nerves then the band began to play. I didn’t know Bambie could do the jitterbug. She could “cut a rug.” I thought it was great how many people dressed up like old stars. There were well known actors/actresses, singers and comedians and many others. We were having the time of our lives. Champagne and drinks were flowing. I was indulging in my favorite chocolate drops. It has been years since I had some. In addition, we had tons of food we were nibbling. I think that was why Nicole and Bambie were dancing so much to burn off the calories. I think Fred had me sit down after teaching me to waltz after I stepped on his toes so many times. But he did say I had the waltz down at least. Therefore, I found myself have a sugar high with virgin pina colada drinks and the chocolate. I noticed my phone ringing by the flashing light, because it was so noisy there. On the other end was Ron the attendant we were supposed to meet. He was asking. “Where are you? We’re waiting for you!” I said, “Dan took us on the tour. We’re in the old ballroom at the party you planned for us.” He dropped the phone and I went back to eating.
Four naval officers walked in. They walked towards us. Three grabbed us for a dance. Ron quietly whispered in my ear, “This is a ghost dance. We have to get you out before midnight and it’s only a few minutes away.” They quietly danced us towards the door. The other naval officer had picked up our purses and was already at the door. Before I went through the door, I heard “they’re getting away. Stop them!” I thought I was going to keel over right then. My heart was thumping. Nicole and Bambie were in shock as they looked through the window in the door and saw their old dance partners turn into mummy looking creatures. I was glad to get back on deck and breathe fresh air.
The chauffeur drove up we were glad to get to our hotel. We arrived back at the hotel and I think I had three fuzzy coladas and Bambie and Nicole had several Loch Lomond to calm us down.
Well, it was nice to get to our rooms and relax. I never had a better good night sleep then that night. What a night!
When we were turning in our keys in the lobby there was a little excitement. The attendant said, “We had just missed celebrities. We just said, “oh, too bad. “ He was going to say something but we all three pushed our keys towards him. He started to say John V…. I quickly cut him off. We’re aware the bill has been paid. Nicole was so trying to see the name on the receipt. He quickly covers it and asked, how was your stay? We all said best night sleep.” Funny not one of us asked who the celebrities were. Hmm I guess the old adage. “Don’t ask, don’t tell “is sometimes good.
Oh what a weekend. Halloween night we’re going to the Titanic. Oh what a night.
The Night of Our Lives, Titanic
Wow! What a trip of a lifetime. I’m so glad John III has provided the wonderful trips this month. We have saved the best for last a going down in a submersible to the Titanic on All Hallows eve. We’ll be going on the Keldysh, which is the largest scientific vessel of its kind.
Bambie and Nicole are going to go down in Mir1 with Johnny and me with Leo in Mir 2. Hmmm wonder who had more fun on the 1-2 hour descent 12,500 feet down.
It was so wild when we came up to the bow of the ship and seemed like we kept going up and up. However, just think the bow sunk down to the anchor. What a big ship. We were going to have some fun. We were able to us the “bots” Tom and Jerry to tour the decks and inside. We went down the grand stairwell and toured different levels. There was one cabin where we could see Jake in the mirror. Bambie pointed out the bottle still in the dressing stand, still intact.
Then we went down the debris field and it was weird to see shoes with the laces still tied but no one in them, a dolls head, and the china. We came up to the boilers. They were massive. Then on the last pass of the ship, something strange happened. I felt as if we (Leo and I) were walking on the deck. Then Nicole, Bambie, and Johnny joined us and the ship came to life. People surrounded us laughing and talking. It was like walking through a door into a party.
The horn sounded letting us know to get ready for dinner. Nicole, Bambie and I found the grand staircase. As we walked down the staircase all of a sudden, we were in gowns for the 1912 era. Wow even with corsets. Ouch. Johnny and Leo were waiting for us dressed in their finest. Leo said it was a strange feeling. It was almost like he had been here before. Bambie or Nicole said they had a particular scene they wanted to re-enact. Leo blushed, hmm.
Tonight we were having dinner with John Jacob Astor, Mr. Andrews, and Molly Brown. Yes, Nicole had a friend there. The drinks and the caviar were flowing. Then after dinner, the men went off to smoke their cigars. They even asked Nicole to join them. While they were away, the dining room was changed to a dance floor. The men came out and we danced. So glad I learned how to waltz last week. (Thanks Fred wherever you are) that made dancing with John Jacob fun. I saw Nicole head off with George Bradley, CH Romaine, Harry Homer and Jay Yates the notorious card sharks on the ship. They had not met their match until they asked Nicole to play. Bambie seemed to be having fun. I don’t think there was a dance that she missed. As we headed back up the stairs and back to the deck, we changed back to our regular clothes. We went back to the submersibles. At first, I thought I had dreamed it but Leo leaned over and whispered Thanks for….Never mind. . Not all that happens on these trips is told, so back to the Keldysh for a Halloween celebration. We all started talking. Bambie, Johnny, Nicole started talking about their “dream”. Leo and I chimed in saying us too. We all go cold chills up our spines. That was just about the time Sergei started serving the drinks. A Black Russian for Nicole, Bambie had wine and I had a fuzzy colada. Before dinner, we were trying to do some of the Russian dances the crew was trying to teach us. Good thing our cameras were still on the subs or Nicole would be blackmailing us. We stayed up playing cards and listening to music. There is something about being on a ship in the middle of the ocean listening to Russian music. Nicole reached in her pocket because something did not seem right. Out from the pocket comes, the poker chips from the Titanic.
The next few dives were just searching new areas. Nothing like that first time though. However, we did change the dive companions to break up the monotony Bambie told us. You have not lived if you have not been n a sub with Leo or Johnny. On one particular dive, Leo and Nicole stayed behind. I had no idea why until we were back on the ship. It had taken a long time this last time to connect the cable and bring us back to the ship, when it usually only takes 5-10 minutes. Well, Nicole and Leo wanted to be Zodiac Cowboys. The people that dive in the water and ride the sub getting it connected to the cable. Sometimes it’s easy and sometimes the waves are so choppy that it’s hard. The waves were not that bad but Nicole was having so much fun riding the sub that she delayed getting the cable attached just for the heck of it.
We had a lot of fun. The Keldysh crew was wonderful and this trip was educational. Well, any trip with Nicole is educational. Bambie can also surprise you. Quiet and talking softly….hmm… going on trips with these women has been an eye opening experience. I would not trade any of it. Thanks again.
We cannot wait for the New York City trip during the Christmas season.
son.
Bambi, Nickie and I had fun touring Salem and picking up some stuff to complete our costumes for the night. We took some time out to have lunch at Pickering Wharf at 62 on the Wharf.
Then we head off to complete the costumes. The rule was that they dressed for the evening and they would have to find their partner for the evening. The catch was that there would be three of the same people and they had to find the right one. So Serena which is Bambi has to find Darren. Jeanine (Nickie) has to find Tony. I will have to find the one person that I shouldn’t tempt with my wiles, a minister. We met in the hall and walked down to the party. Bambi looked so good in the very short dress and the sign design under her right eye in miniature was a pumpkin plus she looked great in her go-go boots. These boots were made for walking….. Nickie was dressed in her genie outfit. She had pink ballet slippers on so she wouldn’t be walking around barefoot. I was in a short wench outfit with tall heeled shoes. I hope I don’t fall. We walked out into the garden area and it was decorated with jack-o-lanterns, witches servers wearing the outfits from 1692 witch hunts time period. Ghosts were flowing from the trees, the liquor fountains were coming from cauldrons. The layout was magnificent. The buffet table or I should say tables were stuffed full of food. Chef Tyler Florence prepared a fabulous table. I saw Jeannie going over and talking to him. I wonder if she knows him. Nothing would surprise me with Jeannie. I had met him when I stayed at the bed and breakfast on the island… Tyler’s Get Away. That is when I asked him about catering the Masquerade Party in Salem. He jumped at the chance.

We couldn’t wait to get our plates and start trying every dish. The guests were arriving and just my luck there were three ministers all the same height and color of hair. I noticed Serena was smiling and turned to see who she was smiling at and it was the three preachers. I noticed they each got her a drink. Hmmm, I think I will need to watch her. Jeannie (Nickie) was looking around as she filled her plate full of lobster and grabbed a beer. The nights get darker early. The lighting gave the place a mystical mood. The music began playing and to our surprise it was Cher singing away. At least I think it was her. Everyone was mingling and eating. People were filing in from everywhere. I am not sure but I think I saw Marilyn Monroe with Kevin Costner… hey wait Alice wasn’t invited to this party.
I saw Serena dancing with the Phantom, a preacher, an astronaut, just to name a few. She was having the time of her life. I heard her giggling and mesmerizing the men with her spells. She seemed to be more expressive and a free spirit than usual, more like the Serena on television. Nickie said that she thought she saw Serena conjure up a few dance partners out of thin air.
I saw Jeannie with Dr. Watson (Vincent) and he was telling her about a pillory. How it was like the lesser punishment called the stocks, the pillory consisted of hinged wooden boards that formed holes through which the head and/or various limbs were inserted; then the boards were locked together to secure the captive. Pillories were set up in marketplaces and crossroads to hold petty criminals. Often a place card detailing the crime was placed nearby; these punishments generally lasted only a few hours. As he was telling her about them he was having her stand in a replica for the party because he felt that Tony hadn’t punished her enough when she was bad. There was a lot of laughter from that area. I could even see him kissing her while she was locked in them. She seemed to be having fun.
I danced with Tarzan, Fred Flintstone, Darren, and the Phantom and Prince William. (No one would believe he was the real Prince.) While we danced he asked me about the pictures. I said, “We have them in a secure place and will meet with Kate and him tomorrow. He said, “Good, did they bring back any feelings for you?” I just smiled and said, “Our significant others are here remember?” He said in a frustrated voice, “I know.” We danced another dance and split up before Kate could yell, “witch hunt.” Then I went off to find my partner for the evening. But before I found my preacher I found an Officer and a Gentleman by the name of Richard. We danced. I could melt in his arms. Very nice, and he was a great dancer too. We danced several dances and went to one of the drink fountains. I turned to see someone dressed as a French maid was taking one of the ministers in the building. I don’t know what came over me but my heart skipped a beat and my stomach sank. I went back dancing with Richard and over his shoulder I watched a playboy bunny hitting on another minister. I stopped dancing right then. Richard looked at me and I said, “I have to find John. I am sorry.” I left him and found the remaining minister that was smiling really big at me. I went and asked him if he was John he took his hand and slid it around my neck and moved my head back and gave me a passionate kiss. I knew it was him because that was how we started our week at the lighthouse a week or so ago. I lifted his mask over his eyes and he winked at me. I stayed close to him the rest of the night. Being a bar wench I grabbed him and kissed him enough to make him take off his minister collar. Then I heard Nickie yell... “Whoa, there you may just need to get a room.” I laughed and turned around to see Nickie with her astronaut, Matthew McConaughey and Serena with her Darren, Jon Hamm. We continued dancing with our dates. Michael Buble’ and his orchestra were there. The music was fantastic. He started to sing “How can you mend this Broken Heart.” How can you mend this broken heart, How can you stop the rain from falling down? How can you stop the sun from shining? What makes the world go round? How can you mend this broken man, How can a loser ever win? Please help me mend my by broken heart and let me live again.” I lifted my head from John’s chest and saw Nickie. There was a tear running down her face and she was looking in the distance over Tony’s shoulder. I turned around and I think I saw Bailey but I am not sure and he was walking away. John leaned down and asked if I was alright. I was but I am not sure about Nickie. I saw Serena dancing slowly with her Darren in a world all to them. I am not sure if it was my eye sight but they looked like they were about a foot off the ground. Then Michael started singing “That’s All.” I can only give you love that lasts forever, And a promise to be near each time you call. And the only heart I own, For you and you alone, That's all, That's all......There are those I am sure who have told you, They would give you the world for a toy. All I have are these arms to enfold you, And a love time can never destroy. If you're wondering what I'm asking in return, dear, You'll be glad to know that my demands are small. Say it's me that you'll adore, For now and evermore, That's all, That's all. John whispered in my ear... that’s all. I looked in his eyes and saw them tearing up. No matter what anybody thinks I am staying with this man. I whispered in his ear. “It’s you I adore, for now and evermore.” (as I nibbled on his ear).
Then it was getting close to the bewitching hour so we motioned Serena, Darren, Tony and Jeannie to follow us.
At midnight we went to a small area that had been decorated just for us. We opened the OMC Glen turret Whiskey to welcome in the witching hour.
We sat there for a few minutes chatting about the fun we had that evening, the food, dancing, and the costumes. Then we broke off in our twosomes to spend the rest of the evening with our dates. We started to leave and when we looked out at the party. We were shocked to see vampires, ghosts, ghouls, and zombies dancing with the people. They turned, saw us, and started coming towards us in a trance with arms our stretched. Serena grabbed Darren and disappeared in this air. Jeannie told Tony to grab onto her and folded her arms, bobbed her head and Poof they were gone. So that left the wench that seduced the preacher. Not a good situation. I backed up holding onto John’s arm and yelled to the sky. “Serena, you could have at least sent John and me to our room!” Poof! We were in our room. “Thanks,” I said to the ceiling. Then I heard a little giggle of delight. I turned around and shook my head then I began seducing the preacher again.
John and I woke up Saturday morning and started getting ready to meet William and Kate. We met up with them at Sixty2 in a private room. Brunch was delicious. Our company was delightful yet there was an uncomfortable moment here and there. We shared the letter and the envelope already in evidence bags for the Prince to give to his authorities since it originated in London. It was a little uncomfortable knowing that John had and probably Kate too had seen the pictures of William and me. Did make the talking a little strained when I thought about it that way. Luckily he didn’t take out the pictures but he did read the letter saying, in essence “give us a million pounds or we post these pictures all over the world. The woman will be imprisoned for breaking the cardinal rule and this will endanger William’s link to the throne.” They discussed what they might do to counter-act the ramifications. Hopefully the emailed pictures won’t get leaked to anyone before William goes on the offense. Kate is standing by her man. Looks like I will not be going to London real soon. But John is standing by me every step of the way. We said good bye to William and Kate. Then we spent the day touring all the wonderful sites in Salem, MA.
We met for dinner on Sunday everyone seems to be having a great time. We laughed and joked about the masquerade party. I asked if they still had their magic powers and they both just smiled at me. Hmm I wonder…. Then I looked at Jon and Matthew and they hadn’t stopped smiling since we met for dinner. Bambi, Nickie and I went to the ladies room. Nickie made sure we were alone then asked about William. I said, “ He came to pick up the photos that were sent to blackmail William and me.” Nickie gulped and I looked at her and smiled, “Guess you saw them too.” We decided to fly out on Tuesday instead of Monday so we can go spend more time touring the east coast. Everyone went their own way and we met on Tuesday at the airport. What a great weekend. John and I drove to the lighthouse Sunday afternoon to clean a certain laptop of certain information.
Next month John and I will head to the North Pole to make the arrangements for our Christmas get together one weekend. Then our trip for Thanksgiving where Nickie will be our hostess and New Year’s Bambi will be hostess.
We arrived at the North Pole safe and sound. It was an exciting trip. We flew to Anchorage, Alaska then we were picked up by what we thought were the National Guard only to find out later it was Santa's Guard. We were in what seemed to be tanks but they were big and roomy inside. We did not know how warm and cozy until the door was opened at the "heliport". We were then whisked off to an undisclosed area where a big jolly man with a white beard and his eight (not so tiny) reindeer flew us to the North Pole city in what Santa called his "limo" sleigh. The North Pole city is beautiful. The air is clear and the lights shine so bright. We were guided to our rooms to settle in and then meet back at the living room, (which I called a mansion in itself) to discuss the schedule. Bambi and Maksim were standing by the fire when John and I walked in. We heard Chris and Nickie laughing down the hall. Rand the head elf gave us our itinerary. We skimmed over it and saw we still had dance classes, a cookie baking time, sledding, hot cocoa breaks and plenty of free time to roam. But we had to stay out of the toy and gift wrapping areas. We did not want to interrupt that process or we would have been put on the naughty list and no gifts for us. We stood around the fire and chatted until dinner time. The food was out of this world. When Nickie took her first bite of blackened salmon she had this weird look come over her face. HMMM. We ate until we almost had our own Santa belly. After dinner we went to the center of town where the Christmas tree lighting was a nightly ritual. There were plenty of warm drinks to be had and we each put an ornament on the tree. We sang Christmas carols until we were hoarse. John and I left first back to get some sleep.
The next day I heard some giggling from some elves when Nickie and Bambi walked by them. I stayed back and asked what was all the giggling about. It seems that Bambi and Maksim had stayed up late dancing in their room. They said she had a sexy black chemise on, while dancing the tango and when her leg went around Maksim...well they whispered the rest. (Funny the tango was not one of the dances we learned.) Then they said that Nickie had a midnight snack in the kitchen, which did not seem that bad to me. Until I heard her snack was Tyler Florence. He was the guest chef for the week. From what the elves said they were very happy to see each other.
The day was filled with dancing class. My mind could not stay on the right steps if I even took a glimpse of Maksim. I was a bit jealous of Bambi. But John and I muddled through it. Then it was lunch time. We laughed and joked. Nickie told about the fun they had sledding down the candle lit hill after the tree ceremony. We were allowed to help with gift wrapping since they needed so much help this year. After that we went back to our rooms for some rest time. I was standing by the window and John came up behind me and put his loving arms around me. He wondered what I was thinking. I told him what the elves said about Bambi and Nickie. He smiled and asked if I was getting restless being with only him? I smiled and said no just a little frustrated. What to my amazement there appeared in our room, but a swing hanging from the ceiling? John and I looked at each other. I laughed and said, "I love this place." We had a wonderful afternoon. Now the elves giggled when I walked by, I turned my head smiled, and winked at them.
We gathered back with the group for another dance lesson. This time I could concentrate only on John. We seemed to get the dance steps this time. Nickie and Chris were having so much fun trying to dance since they had less time to practice than we did. Dinner was nice that was the only time we could see Santa. He was so busy but he did say that he looked for the Christmas Eve dance. It seemed the business of the season gives this man more energy. It was already Monday the 22nd. Today we were site seeing. We are going to see the Museum of History of the North Pole. I really want to find out if I knock Santa off the roof if John could be Santa. That would be so fun. We are also going to go ice fishing and ice skating with the polar bears. I so hope they are in a good mood!
It was so much fun! Maksim and Bambi could really make the moves on the ice skating. I am so glad that the dance is not a competition. Chris and Nickie caught several salmon and we are going to have them for dinner tonight. I loved watching the informational videos in the museum. No, I cannot knock him off to make John, Santa. It was a fun filled day and I am glad we get some time to ourselves tonight after dinner. I am going to jump in the bathtub and fill it with tons of bubbles, lit candles, peppermint hot chocolate, soft music and John. Bambi and Nickie seemed to have their own plans for the evening.
Tuesday and Wednesday were busy with cookie making and wrapping presents. We had so much fun there was a lot of icing and sprinkles everywhere. We stayed up late Tuesday so we could have energy for the Christmas Eve ball that did not start until 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday night, sleeping in was impossible. The excitement of getting Santa off on Christmas Eve was exciting to say the least. We had not realized that he started in the morning. So we woke up, threw on some sweat clothes and went out and wished him well. I curled up by John in front of the fire. The others joined us. The elves brought some hot chocolate. I am not sure what was in the hot chocolate but we all were wide awake and had energy beyond belief. The rest of the day we helped finish the decorating and we helped Tyler in the kitchen. I am not really sure he thought we were helping. So we slid out of the kitchen and went out doors to have a snowball fight, the girls against the boys. We spent the afternoon out in the snow. We came in for some sandwiches and more hot chocolate. Our energy was renewed once again. We kept busy helping in the kitchen for the dinner party. Bambi seemed to sneak off every now and then for thirty minutes. One of the elves said she had been practicing with Maksim. Then it was time to get ready. We had special rooms to get ready in. Our dresses and gifts from Santa were in the room. We finally were ready, make up and jewelry on. We started out to the stairs. The oohs and ahh’s from the men the elves were all that we needed to proceed to glide down the stairs as beautiful graceful women do. My dress was full so Bambi walked down first in her Santa red dress with white fur contrast. Maksim smiled the biggest smile. I noticed his tie clasp glimmered. Then Nickie in her slinky black dress with beaver fur around the bodice flowed down the stairs to Chris. He was all smiles and I saw that his tie clasp shined also. Then I was slowly walking down trying not to trip and saw John flash his big smile at me and his tie clasp gleamed. I reached his arms and saw that his tie clasp was a swing. I looked over at Maksim and saw the silhouette of two dancers I slyly turned to see Chris’s tie clasp it was a Harley. Nickie saw my face and grinned. She leaned over and saw John’s and seemed a little shocked. But she did give me the approval nod.
We took the arms of our men and headed for the door. The elves handed our gentlemen the cloaks and they helped us put on our cloaks. The elves helped the men and we set out on the arms of our handsome gentlemen pass the Christmas tree into the dance hall. It was breathtaking. It was adorned in silver and blue decorations, a winter wonderland. We took off our cloaks and went in almost with our mouths opened in wonder. But we refrained and just took in the site. When we walked in Rand announced the first song, “Winter Wonderland” sung by Michael Buble’. John stretched out his hand and I took it and we glided to the dance floor. It was exciting and new dance for me, even though we have been practicing it for months. The dress, the men in their suits, the lights shining as crystal snowflakes, the live orchestra, the song, it all added up to a night filled with wonder. I did not think I would be able to dance for thirty minutes but we did. Bambi was glowing, she was having so much fun with Maksim. We took a break for some eggnog. It gave me the energy boost like the hot chocolate. The room became silent and a beautiful white haired woman flowed as an angel in the room wearing a magnificent red dress with tones of shades of red in it. I almost felt like we were in the presence of a queen. She did not need a microphone since the room was quiet as church. She announced that was inviting us to dinner in the next room and to please follow her. Rand motioned us to follow her. We walked in this beautiful room. It was large enough for an adorned tree, a fireplace and a dining table 40 feet long. We found our place cards and stood next to our chairs until everyone was in the room and Mrs. Claus sat down. The food was delicious; we had everything from lobster, salmon, pheasant, turkey, ham, beef wellington to choose from. I did not know how I was going to be able to dance anymore tonight. They would have to roll me out onto the dance floor. We laughed and talked to the other guests. It was so fun to learn about the town and a few unknown to tourist areas to visit. At the end of dinner Mrs. Claus asked for the chef, in walked in Tyler Florence I noticed a pin on his lapel in the shape of a prep table. I looked over at Nickie and she blushed. We applauded the chef for the beautiful dinner. Then Mrs. Claus announced that the dinner was over and the desserts would be served when Santa came but until then we were to mingle and dance. John and I took a stroll around the indoor flower garden. It was like being in Hawaii with the luscious, vibrant flowers. It always amazed me how mistletoe would appear at the appropriate times. Nickie and Chris walked in and found us. She said, “Better slow down there, we have four more hours of this party.” We smiled. We stood there talking about this place until Bambi and Maksim walked in. They joined in and told us a few places they wanted to explore before we left. We ladies left for the powder room. We had a special room to go to because we pretty much had to undress to use the restroom. I took off my dress and Nickie looked at me and said, “I did not know you were wearing long johns.” I smiled, “I figured since my shoulders were bare I was going to be warm from the waist down.” Nickie responded with not a lady like statement. I will let you feel in the blanks. So we were all freshened up and headed back to our men. We danced the night away. The clock struck midnight and the room became quiet, people started backing away leaving a circle empty in the middle of the dance floor. Mrs. Claus came through the crowd and stood quietly, and then she stretched forth her hand to her side and curtsied, on the rise back up Santa appeared taking her hand, giving her a bow. The Christmas dance began. The men bowed to us and we gracefully took their hands. I felt like I was gliding in the air while in John’s arms. The dance was long but yet short in a way. The feeling was amazing. Santa bowed to all of us and said, “I must get back to delivering presents but I had to dance with the love of my life. He kissed her and disappeared. The waiters brought out peppermint champagne to toast Christmas day. Then the trays of desserts came from every door. It was only the three of us on the dance floor with our men, the orchestra began to play a soft waltz and we began to dance. Again it was as if the lights were snowflakes and John and I were the only ones in the room. Oh, what a night. We snacked on dessert, talked, and laughed. Before the evening ended the orchestra started playing more lively music and I noticed Bambi unzipped a hidden zipper on the side of her dress, the slit went up to her knees. Maksim took her hand and escorted her to the dance floor. They danced as one, it was provocative, and it was beautiful. I realized I was standing when John came up from behind and put his arms around me. I leaned back into his arms as we watched them dance. I looked over at Nickie and she was doing the same with Chris. She leaned over and whispered, “Who knew they could dance like this?” I laughed, “The elves did.” She looked puzzled then laughed, and then the realization of what I said made her blush. We went back to watching them dance. We had another hot chocolate to toast the ending of the dance. This one though did not give me energy but calmed me down more. I do not know about Nickie but after watching them dance I was glad it was time to go back to the house to snuggle up in our beds, wondering and waiting to see what would be under the tree for us in the morning.
Christmas morning arrived. We amazingly woke up at six refreshed. We grabbed our pajamas and housecoats, combed our hair, and brushed our teeth, then headed to the Christmas hall. We met up with the others at the tree that did not have any gifts under it. They looked refreshed and bright eyed as us. I whispered to Bambi about how wonderful this place was. She agreed. I also told her how beautiful she danced with Maksim last night and she blushed. We all gathered around the fire the Santa and Mrs. Claus walked in; gifts appeared under the tree and our filled stockings at the hearth. I felt like a kid again. Bambi took the lead and was the gift giver. We all waited until she was finished. We were amazed at all the presents that we had. Maksim gave Bambi a trip for two around the world to different dance contests that they were entered in. Chris gave Nickie a new Harley and a cross country ride in the spring. John gave me a trip to Ireland with him for a month. (Making sure Jeffrey and Gerard would not be in the country at that time). We exchanged gifts with each other. Of course Bambi’s were kind and thoughtful and Nickie’s had batteries included in her gifts to us, mine were homemade treats. The day was relaxing and wonderful. Chef Florence out did himself on the dinner. It is not every Christmas that you actually get to be with Santa. We sat around the fire sipping on hot drinks curled up with our men. We hit the beds early it had been a long two days. The next few days were exploring the places our new friends from the Christmas party told us about. We had the best time and then we had to go home. But we are excited to get back together for New Year’s Eve.
Before I end I did ask about the eggnog and hot chocolate on Christmas Eve. It seems it is a special item that Santa concocted so that everyone would have enough energy for those two days to enjoy them. Plus he loves that midnight dance with his wife and he wants to make sure everyone else has the energy for it. But it is not long lasting, or has side effects.
I would also like to say in the real world, it has been nice this year to travel with the both of you. This helps get us through the tough times. At this busy time of the year it was a pleasure to travel to the north pole. But it is also nice to be able to say Merry Christmas and not offend either of you because you both know the real reason for the season.
We arrived at the lighthouse and we went to my bedroom. I threw my keys down on the desk and my computer lit up. I saw that my journal was up and my heart sank to the pit of my stomach. He asked what was wrong and what I was looking at. I stood in front of the laptop so he couldn’t read what I had written. I said, “my journal has been open.” He asked, “Do you think someone has been in here and read it?”
“Only Nickie has been at the lighthouse.” I answered him. “I don’t think she would have purposely come into read my journal.” I looked back at the laptop and saw that I had a reminder on the tool bar. I said, “now I know what happened I didn’t shut this down and hurriedly left here, but my reminder must have been going off and she came into check it out. If I had seen her journal up on a computer I would have read it, so I bet she did.” I kept standing there wondering if she had read it when he grabbed me around the waist and he slid his hand around my neck and maneuvered my neck back then kissed me passionately. I went almost limp in his arms. I put my hands around his neck and he swung me around to the bed still kissing me. He pulled back a little and asked, “Will this end up in your journal?”
I smiled back and said, “We will see what happens.”
Then he grabbed me again and laid me back on the bed.
So the cool breeze coming from the window woke me up. I stretched out my arms and purposely let it fall next to me on the empty side of the bed. I gave a sigh of relief. That man was not here. I immediately went to my computer. The web cam was on I put it that I was on line and John came on.
"John, I miss you so much."
"Really, what did he leave you already?" he asked with a note of sarcasm.
"I asked him to leave, John. Believe me when I tell you I do not remember any of it pass us arriving at Madame Butterfly's. I would never go off to marry another man. I love you!"
"So you really don't remember? He asked sceptically.
"No, I don't remember!" I said exasperating. "So, I noticed that you are on the plane. Are you flying out with the divorce papers? Nickie told me what you said when I wasn't at the hotel waiting."
"Yes, I am he said sheepishly."
"I will be on the beach. I have to take a walk. Don't even ask I will be alone. I do love you. Fly safely."
Then I signed off. I dressed warmly. The beach at this time of year is slightly cold but I only put my sandals on since I still wanted to feel the sand going between my toes. Ahh, the air cold against my face feels so good. Then I look up and it cannot be. My silver haired knight. I fell into his arms and sobbed.
"He doesn't believe me! I really do not remember!"
He let me cry then quietly said, "I think he may be starting to believe you. He called me from the plane and told me where to find you. He said to keep you safe. Where did you go for dinner there? What did you drink?"
"We went to Madame Butterfly's. We had some kind of mushrooms, sake and sushi rolls in weird shapes. I had a side drink that the bartender brought me. I don't know what it was. Richard,it was after that drink that I cannot remember anything after that!"
Richard put his arm around my waist and we began walking. He seemed to be thinking. We walked for awhile in silence. Then I heard my name and turned it was John. At first he was hesitant to touch me then he just grabbed me. I melted in his arms. Richard finally said, "John, I think someone there drugged her. I want to talk to Chris, Nickie, and Giovanni separately. Actually, I will call a detective that I am friends with to interview them. If, that is okay with you."
"Thanks, Richard. I owe you one. Now, Beth, I have already checked and the wedding is not valid. We will get to the bottom of this. We need to get back to the lighthouse I left the baby with Bailey, and I do not think he was comfortable with him."
